Thank you for your patience!

It is time to submit nominations for the Gifted & Talented Program for grades 1st-12th*. Contact your child's campus directly to nominate them, or for any questions. The deadline is October 6th.

*There will be a separate nomination period for Kindergarten students.

Our 4th graders had a fun surprise on Friday! The Smithville Noon Lions Club showed up with 130+ dictionaries and passed them out to each student. Superintendent Burns took them through a quick lesson on how to use the dictionary, and then they all wrote their names in them. They were all very excited to have their very own dictionary!

It was good to have students back at our Board of Trustees meeting last night! Students from Smithville Elementary joined us to lead the Pledge and share their Character Essays about Courage. Great job!

WEIRD SCIENCE! The 4th and 5th grade students have been conducting some fun experiments to learn about the properties of matter and chemical reactions. 5th graders created "Elephant Toothpaste" and Ms. Brockenbush's 4th grade class conducted a science lab on mixtures and solutions. So much fun! #science

Today we remember the 9/11 attacks and honor the lives lost in that tragedy.
#NeverForget

Next Friday is DOT day. Please join us in celebrating DOT day and encouraging all students to "Make Their Mark!"

Here are some reminders about our Dismissal Procedures, specifically for walkers:
Teachers and staff will ensure that students safely cross the street and then they will be released. Students will be released at the corners of Wilkes/8th and Bishop/8th, please let your child’s teacher know which direction your student should walk. Walkers and bikers will not be dismissed until after the end of the car rider line is in the circle drive. The estimated time of walker/biker dismissal is between 3:30-3:35. Parents are not permitted to park in the circle drive and walk up to pick students up from the car rider line.
Thanks for all your help!
