Bailey previously taught at Brown Primary school before leaving for a few years to be MOM to her three beautiful children. They are all now school-age and she is excited to get back in the District. She will be at Smithville Elementary serving as a Special Education Resource Teacher.
"It's truly one of the most rewarding feelings to see a child's face light up when they finally accomplish their goal! I can't wait to meet all of the little Tigers that will be with me this year!"

Tigers, are you ready for a summer reading challenge?
We are excited to launch our Smithville Elementary Summer Reading Bingo! Students entering 1st–5th grade can complete reading activities all summer long for a chance to earn a prize at Meet the Teacher!
✅ Complete any 5 activities in a row (across, down, or diagonal) to earn a BINGO.
✅ Bring your completed bingo card to Meet the Teacher.
✅ Receive a special prize and start the year off as a reading champion!
At SES, we believe that every book is a step toward becoming a stronger reader, thinker, and learner. We encourage our Tigers to keep their reading skills sharp all summer long while having fun exploring new books and adventures.

Just a reminder about our "Future Me" dress up day scheduled for Friday, May 8th.
Throughout the last few weeks of school, SES students will have the opportunity to consider their "Future Me" through career discussions in their classrooms. To celebrate these discussions, we will have a "Future Me" dress up day. See the attached flyer for details.

We are excited to celebrate our 5th grade students as they reach this important milestone!
We do need to share a small schedule change. Our 5th Grade Completion Ceremony was originally scheduled for 9:30 AM; however, due to a conflict with the junior high completion ceremony on the same day, we have adjusted our time to allow families with students at both campuses the opportunity to attend both events.
New Ceremony Time: 10:00 AM
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility, and we look forward to celebrating our amazing students with you!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Ms. Brockman

Our 5th Grade Parent Involvement Event brought families together for a fun-filled Board Game Family Day, and it was truly a success! Parents and students had the chance to sit side-by-side, laugh, compete, and most importantly...connect.
Through games, our students showed off so much more than just their competitive spirit. We saw critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and great sportsmanship in action. It was amazing to watch students guide their parents through strategies, explain rules, and demonstrate the skills they’ve been building all year.
This event was a perfect reminder that learning doesn’t just happen in textbooks...it happens through experiences, conversations, and quality time together. Thank you to all the families who joined us and helped make this day so special! ❤️

For those who might not know, an idiom is a phrase that doesn’t literally mean what it says...like “it’s raining cats and dogs” or “hold your horses.” They’re expressions we use all the time, even if they don’t make perfect sense word-for-word.
Watching kids bring these to life by dressing up, acting them out, and really getting it was such a reminder that learning sticks best when it’s hands-on and fun.
