I am Tammie Hewitt and am honored to be serving in my fifth year as the principal of Smithville Elementary! Our family is starting our twelth year in this awesome community and are honored to call Smithville home. I graduated with my bachelors from Angelo State University and masters from Wayland Baptist University. I have proudly served education in the role of teacher and assistant principal prior to my current position.
Our vision at Smithville Elementary is: ‘SES is dedicated to inspiring a community of lifelong learners.’ As we embark on this year, I encourage you to be an active participant in your child’s education. We believe that it is our responsibility - the school, the parents and the community- to work together to empower our students and ensure the success of each child. We promote collaboration as we work to develop intellectual skill, academic skills and social skills that will help to build well rounded individuals.
I am also a proud wife and mother. My husband, Jason, shares my passion for education and serves at the Texas Education Agency. We had had the opportunity to watch our own children grow as Tigers and know you will love it here. Our daughter is a 2015 SHS Tiger graduate and currently a senior nursing student at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, go CRU! Our son is a senior at Smithville High school, keeping us on the go with band and tennis, go Tigers! I truly believe I am here for a reason and know I am blessed to impact lives daily!
This year our theme is “Our Story.” We eagerly await the story that will unfold as the children arrive and we begin this year together. SES is blessed with a dedicated staff of amazing educators who will help your child to grow, learn and prosper as individuals. It is going to be an amazing story!
